Snow days in Utah

Utah Snow Day

I realize it's spring. But it snowed last Thursday, and if Utah isn't counting seasons, then I'm not either.

When we decided to move to Utah, I was actually pretty excited, and also a little nervous, for the winter. I felt like I had gone up a level in seasons when I moved to Nashville from Los Angeles. Fall was actually fall. Winter was winter. Spring was spring. Summer was summer. The way I imagined how the different seasons were mostly supposed to feel and be. But I felt like a Nashville winter, with maybe a couple snow days, was a pretty mediocre experience on a scale of intense winters.

Turns out, Utah is experiencing a pretty mild winter this year. It's actually been comparable to Nashville. It's what I call "magic snow" — that type that settles in for the night so you wake up to a winter wonderland, or "snowland" as Matt sings, in the morning and everything feels beautiful.

I think it's fortunate in most ways that it's snowed so sparingly this winter...and now spring. I have an hour commute to work each way, and it has only snowed on days where I haven't had to drive in! There was even a day where Matt and I planned a little road trip and ended up canceling it because the roads were so icy and scary. That was a Friday. And usually a day I'd drive in to work, but because of our trip plans, I was working from home that day. I feel like God wants me to stay alive a little longer. And I appreciate that.

So in the spirit of some of the best snow days, I've put a small collection of snow day photos below, and I'll be posting all about 'em this week. As much as I've loved snow days, I'm still hoping last Thursday was the last snow day until next winter!
