Las Vegas: Blue Man Group

image.jpg

Annemarie and I went to see the Blue Man Group as the finale to our first day on the road. It was also after the Calico Ghost Town and all the confusion that ensued in the Mystery Shack. It seemed like illusion and confusion were just a part of this day.

So it was fitting to see this performance. I have this vague memory of my neighbor coming back from Las Vegas one weekend with her son about fifteen years ago and telling my mom how cool it was. And ever since then, it was something I've always wanted to check out.

I also can't help but think of "Blue (Da Ba Dee)" song that I karaoked to once, and always gets stuck in my head (sidenote: worst song to karaoke to ever — try repeating an almost tongue-twister a zillion times.)

Would you believe that this was my first Las Vegas show I've ever been to? You'd think with all the times and experiences I've had in Las Vegas (shared in my Sober Guide to Las Vegas) that I would have experienced a show — I mean, that's what some people fly here for!

I chose well though. Not only for continuing a day of confusion, but because the show was truly fantastic. When Annemarie and I walked in, it was like we were walking into a club. Blacklights. Music. People finding seats.

And then once we found our seats, someone came over and put a seemingly never-ending amount of streamers onto Annemarie. Which we also used to make a headband with.

From there things just got more confusing, and so cool. It was like an optical illusion magic show with some music and percussion and comedy and other cool things all in one. I can't compare to other Las Vegas shows, but I really did enjoy this one.

And after the show, we got to meet some of the cast, including one of the blue men! Overall, awesome decision. In spite of what happened after ... which I'll be sharing a comprehensive journey of the trip at the end of these specific events. #thesuspense
